To quote Tom Cruise, "Stanley Kubrick was not only the master filmmaker but he was also the architect of the ad campaign for almost all of his films". From the middle of the '60s, Kubrick supervised personally the making of posters, teasers, trailers, TV and radio spot for the films he directed, imposing his control to every information given to the press in order to introduce his works correctly for the audience: for example he allowed LIFE magazine reporters to visit him on the set of 2001: a Space Odyssey, hired Philip Castle to design the cartoonish ad campaign for A Clockwork Orange, or even made specific gadgets for the premieres.
This collection offers the possibility of taking a look at the promotional material designed or approved by Kubrick for the international release of his films.
